Maybe it's not quite time to ditch the cosy blankets just yet but as we slowly leave the hibernation phase of winter behind us and look towards spring, a mood-enhancing declutter and freshen up is just what the doctor ordered.
As I've said before, I'm not personally a huge fan of completely transforming the home seasonally but I do enjoy making a few tweaks and changing up some accessories to help blow away the cobwebs ready for spring. These changes don't need to be time consuming or particularly expensive so let me share some ideas...
N O . 0 1 | Lighten up
Just because it’s spring, it doesn’t mean that everything has to be dowsed in pastels and covered in daisies. It also doesn’t mean you have to remove your moody tones, simply scale back on the deeper colour palette and maybe mix in some neutrals. This will immediately brighten up your space, creating a lighter and airier feel.
Also, consider putting away the heavy knitted throws and blankets and replace them with lighter fabrics such as cotton or linen. A great tip I discovered a few years ago is to buy a linen tablecloth and use it as throw flung over the arm of the sofa or draped across a bed. Tablecloths are generally cheaper than throws or bedspreads (H&M always has a good selection) but you're achieving the same look and giving your home a more season specific feel.
If you're not afraid of a pop of colour and pattern then spring décor is probably your safe space. Bold botanicals, fantastical florals and gorgeous ginghams are perfect for embracing the essence of the season so live your best life and go all out!

N O . 0 2 | Bring in seasonal flowers and foliage
This is an easy and inexpensive way to make your home feel fresh and alive! If you can gather from your own garden then lucky you - if not, why not go foraging (obviously check it's not private land before you go snaffling branches!). A few freshly picked flowers or bowls of spring bulbs can transform the vibe of a space, taking it from winter austerity to spring optimism.
If you don't fancy bringing the literal outdoors in, there are some fabulous faux botanicals to choose from instead. For a long time, I was a bit of a faux flower snob but there are so many amazingly realistic versions available now, I've done a complete 180!
The Suffolk Nest and Abigail Ahern are my go-to brands for all things faux. Both have a wide range of faux and dried stems influenced by the beautiful British countryside which enables you to curate your own arrangement to suit your home.

N O . 0 3 | Stock up on spring scents
Scents can be a game-changer when evoking the feeling of spring in your home. I'm not personally a fan of overly floral scents (I clearly remember an unfortunate migraine situation brought about by a certain Peony scented candle!) but there are plenty of other fresh and uplifting fragrances that go hand in hand with this time of year - after all, candles are not just for the colder months right?
I tend to opt for citrusy scents over floral and a couple of my current faves are Happiness from NEOM Wellbeing, a real mood booster which will put a little extra spring in your step and Amalfi Lemon from The White Company which smells like a warm sunny day after some rain... you know those days when you can suddenly smell nature around you? Delightful!
N O . 0 4 | Refresh your artwork
Prints and artwork often become a permanent fixture on our walls and when they stay the same, we tend to stop noticing them. But just like an art gallery will install a new exhibition to generate excitement, you can refresh your artwork seasonally to bring a new visual dimension to your décor.
This doesn't have to be an expensive undertaking, especially if you opt for downloadable art. If you follow my Instagram account, you'll know that I'm a big fan of downloadable or 'instant' art and some of my favourite brands for this are Luna Prints, North Prints and Collection Prints, all of which offer beautiful vintage artwork for just a few pounds!

So, what do you think? Are you a seasonal décor lover? How will you be embracing spring in your home... I'd love to know!
