The decorative bobbin technique - which originated in the 17th Century - has made a comeback in the last few years and the trend sees no sign of waning any time soon so if you like a bit of vintage detailing, you're in luck!
Taking its name from the lathe-turned detailing traditionally seen on chair, stool and table legs, the ornate 'bobbly' aesthetic is everywhere right now so it couldn't be easier to inject some bobbin vibes into your life whether it's investing in a classic piece of furniture or just a tiny nod to the look that complements your existing décor.

The antique look has been given a modern twist in recent years with many retailers combining the iconic design with bright colours, making for a fun and whimsical design statement.
According to Lisa Jones, editorial design manager for Dunelm, "The bobbin trend in homewares celebrates the craftsmanship and nostalgia associated with traditional sewing and textile arts. It offers unique and charming décor options for those who love handmade and vintage-inspired items."
Of course, accessories are one of the easiest ways to try out the trend with minimal commitment and the high street is currently awash with options including lamps, candlesticks, mirrors, picture frames and even salt and pepper grinders so I've rounded up some of my favourites...
NO. 01 | NEXT PALMER WOOD LAMP
The perfect way to bring a touch of neutral character and charm to your home, this wooden bobbin lamp from Next is a beauty! The metal detail nestled between the turned wood base gives this lamp an elevated look and the neutral linen mix shade would fit seamlessly into pretty much any existing décor.
Next also has a coordinating floor lamp too which is every bit as stylish.
NO. 02 | AMELIA SIDE TABLE
If you’re eager to embrace the bobbin trend wholeheartedly, a statement piece of furniture piece like this side table from Hudson Home would be the perfect addition to any room.
Made from a subtle limewashed oak, the hand crafted bobbin detail on the legs of this elegant little table stole my heart the minute I clapped eyes on it... I'm now trying to envisage where I can squeeze it into our own home! What's more, Hudson Home have a whole Amelia collection so you can complete the look with matching pieces should you so wish.
NO. 03 | GEORGE HOME BEADED FRAMES
These sweet little green bobbin picture frames from George at Asda are a fun way to embrace the trend and at just £10 for a pack of two, they are kind to your budget too!
NO. 04 | JOHN LEWIS BOBBIN MIRROR
Part of an exclusive collaboration with leading designer, Matthew Williamson, this green bobbin mirror from John Lewis is a perfectly proportioned statement piece for your wall. Something about the alternating bobbin size gives it a slightly more elegant and less quirky appearance which I love... it feels a little more timeless.
NO. 05 | DUNELM PIPPIN CONSOLE TABLE
Dunelm has really upped it's homeware game of late and this elegant little console table is stylish and sophisticated with a slight vintage feel thanks to the ornate ceramic drawer handles. I love the deep navy finish which makes the table look much more expensive than it actually is.
Dunelm also has a matching Pippin side table, coffee table, chest of drawers and dining table.
NO. 06 | ADDISON ROSS BOBBIN MILLS
I can't write a feature about the bobbin trend without giving a shout out to Addison Ross, who some might argue have led the way with their iconic salt and pepper mills. Originally launched in 2022, these colourful mills have sold out numerous times since and continue to be their best seller with eight different design variations and a multitude of eye catching colours to choose from.
So, what do you think of the bobbin trend? Have you embraced it in your own home? I'd love to know...
