According to interiors experts, blue is coming out on top of spring's trending colours and making waves right now so why is it causing such a stir?
This time of year is all about new beginnings, lighter and brighter days, blowing off the cobwebs of the winter and embracing the new season ahead and shades of blue are perfect for achieving this. It's the colour of the sky, the sea and all things calming and just like your favourite pair of jeans, it's a timeless classic that goes with everything!

Cool, calm and collected, blue is scientifically proven to be a subconsciously restful colour, helping you relax without even realising it and depending on what shade you opt for, blue can be used to either cool down a space, or equally make it more warm and inviting.
Light, barely there blues create an open and inviting feel while the bolder, inky shades tend to create more cosy and atmospheric vibes in a room. From navy to robin’s egg blue, there are a multitude of options to incorporate your favourite shades of blue, whether your style is coastal, traditional, modern or anything in between.
Personally, I'm a sucker for a soft powder blue particularly when it comes in the form of a floral wallpaper, classic heritage stripe or cute gingham... how about you?

Further evidence of our current penchant for all things blue comes from high street giant, John Lewis, which has reported that online searches for “sky blue” are up 137 per cent compared to this time last year, with their spring season blue furnishings proving to be hugely popular. So, if you’re not ready to start splashing blue hues on your walls just yet, why not dip your toe in the proverbial water with some small accents and subtle changes.
You can’t go wrong with accessories like candles, vases, and cushions to quickly and inexpensively try out a new colour trend, especially if your existing décor is fairly neutral, these new pieces will fit in seamlessly. Why not try layering up blue tones for maximum effect to create depth and interest or mix patterns, plains and textures to develop a scheme that’s inviting without feeling too cool.
