EIGHT OF THE BEST: BLANKETS & THROWS

The darker nights and cooler days are starting to creep in so it's time to start thinking about hunkering down and reaching for the blankets. There's no better feeling than snuggling up with a good book or new Netflix series and the perfect blanket is not only functional, it can add texture or a pop of colour to a space - it can also be one of the most inexpensive and versatile ways to transition your décor for autumn.

Around this time of year, I personally tend to disappear under a mountain of blankets only to emerge when the weather changes in spring and in our house, we have enough blankets and throws to cater for a small army... much to the delight of Mr P, he just loves fighting his way to bed via an obstacle course of soft furnishings!

So, with the autumn/winter collections now hitting the shops, I've picked eight of my favourite super stylish blankets (some I own, others I don't) that will help you stay as toasty as a marshmallow...

No. 01 | Tom Lane Coverdale Throw

If you want a fabulous quality blanket and to support a small independent business at the same time then look no further than Tom Lane. We have three of their blankets in our home and they really are the perfect snuggle partner. Made from 100% British wool and available in a wide range of colours and sizes, Tom Lane blankets are a staple so if you buy one this season... make it one of these!

No. 02 | H&M Tasselled Blanket

Looking for the quintessential cosy blanket? The delicious squishy kind that features in all good Nancy Meyers movies - then look no further! This cable knit tassel blanket from H&M is an absolute beauty and not only that, it's a steal at just £24.99. Perfect for those gloomy winter evenings and if I didn't already have so many, I'd be popping this in my basket for sure!

No. 03 | The Secret Linen Store Vivienne Quilted Throw

Ok Secret Linen Store, take my money... a soft laundered feel, delicious faded olive chambray, classic stripes - it's a yes from me! This gorgeous reversible quilted blanket from Secret Linen Store has it all. Made in Portugal from 100% cotton, the dreamy Vivienne blanket is available in six colours and is firmly on my wish list.

It's a little bit of an investment piece but... well, just look at it! And you can get 15% off by signing up to their newsletter.

No. 04 | Cox & Cox Olive Checked Blanket

Another classic... neutral beige with olive green checks and made from 100% British pure new wool. This extra large cosy blanket from Cox & Cox is perfect for layering your bed or wrapping up on the sofa during the cooler months. It's timeless design and hardwearing yarn means you'll be digging it out of the cupboard year after year!

I purchased this throw for my sister last year so speak from experience when I say, it's beautiful quality and a classic staple.

No. 05 | H&M Frill Trimmed Blanket

H&M Home is coming up with the goods yet again. Technically, I guess this is a bedspread instead of a blanket per se but... blanket/bedspread... potato/potahto - there are no rules!

I've had this bedspread myself for a while now and it repeatedly sells out but they just keep restocking, it's that good! It comes in two sizes, is a beautiful neutral stone colour and has a delicate raw frill trim - what's not to like?

No. 06 | White Company Super Soft Faux Fur Throw

There's faux fur and then there's faux fur! Having owned one of these blankets from The White Company, I can tell you with some authority that this faux fur is next level luxurious. These blankets are somewhat of an investment (my tip is to sign up to their newsletter through which you can regularly get a reasonable discount) but my goodness, it's the plushest faux fur you'll ever have the pleasure of wrapping yourself in!

No. 07 | Piglet in Bed Moorland Border Wool Blanket

Made in Yorkshire from pure merino wool, this soft and earthy two-tone blanket from Piglet in Bed caught my eye and is bang on trend with it's dusty heather border... perfect for meeting this season's colour palette brief.

No. 08 | Dusk Faux Mohair Throw

If you're looking for a super soft and snuggly, budget friendly staple then look no further than Dusk's faux mohair throw. Available in natural, off white, dark sage and heather, this is genuinely the most luxurious and softest blanket you'll find for under £20! (I know because I own one).
