Gingham has well and truly taken over this year and I have to say... I'm not mad at that. Let's be honest, what's not to love? It's a timeless classic that can equally achieve a rustic country cottage aesthetic or dress the table of a stylish modern townhouse. And if you throw some ruffles into the mix... I, for one, am sold!

I recently saw a ruffled gingham tablecloth online but it cost a fortune and if I'm honest, Mr P and I rarely sit at the dining table so I decided to have a go at making a more cost effective version myself. I'm certainly not an experienced seamstress but I do know my way round a sewing machine so I purchased a cheap and cheerful gingham duvet cover from H&M for just £19.99 and set about turning it into a tablecloth.

What do you think? Not bad for twenty quid huh? And proof that home décor doesn't have to be expensive if you're willing to give a little DIY a go.
