CHRISTMAS DECORATING TRENDS FOR 2023

As the festive season rapidly approaches, the Christmas spirit appears to be very much alive and well on social media already but if you - like me - are yet to decide on your décor and fancy mixing it up a little, here are just some of the themes that experts are hailing as hot for 2023.

At this juncture, it goes without saying that there is no 'must' about any of this. Sure, we all would like a picture perfect tree surrounded by immaculately wrapped presents beside a roaring log fire but in reality, do we need it in order to enjoy ourselves? No, probably not. So please don't feel the pressure to live your best festive life - simply grab a glass of mulled wine (or two) and enjoy the view from a distance.

If however, you're jumping in with both feet (also perfectly OK by the way) and looking for a little inspiration, read on my friend and get set to deck those halls!

No. 01 | Traditional Elegance

While new trends emerge every year, there's always a place for the classics and this year, the decorations of Christmases past are making a comeback. A timeless colour palette of rich reds, lush greens and gold feature alongside traditional decorations such as nutcrackers, wooden sleighs, musical instruments and toys... a little nod to those cherished childhood memories.

No. 02 | Woodland Charm

Nature-inspired décor continues to trend in 2023, with a particular focus on woodland elements. Expect to see an abundance of whimsical forest creatures alongside pinecones, foraged greenery, rustic wooden ornaments, twigs and berries.

It's the perfect trend for those who want to bring the tranquillity of nature into their homes during the festive season and if you fancy adding a touch of sparkle to your woodsy retreat, why not embrace your inner Alice in Wonderland - glittery toadstools, gilded acorns and iridescent butterflies are all on the agenda this year.

No. 03 | Earthy tones

A similar vibe to woodland charm but more pared back... earthy tones are having a moment this year thanks in the most part to McGee & Co. and their sell out Holiday Collection. In addition to rich browns expect to see shades of rust, copper, terracotta and deep muted greens.

Ornaments and decorations embrace the beauty of natural elements incorporating wood and rattan alongside burnished metal, rustic ceramics and antiqued glass.

No. 04 | Rustic Scandi

Less is definitely more when it comes to a Scandi inspired Christmas. Fill your home with candles, chunky knit cushions and faux fur throws to create a warm and cosy ambience and look for decorations that are simply crafted from pared back natural materials such as wood and paper.

No. 05 | Pink Party

The 'Barbiecore' trend appears to be showing no signs of slowing down... in fact, Pink-mas is apparently now a thing! From soft blush tones to hot fuchsia or peach, pink is this year's colourful new trend and offers a fresh take on the traditional festive colour palettes.

No. 06 | Merry & Bright

Throw out the rule book and go for a joy-inducing, colourful Christmas! For anyone who finds themselves yearning for summer colours long into the winter months, brights are the perfect way to give your seasonal style a contemporary twist.

It may not be a traditional scheme for Christmas, but it's a sure fire way to bring some vibrancy and fun to your home this festive season.
